Take an Extended Look at Emma Stone in Poor Things
Searchlight Pictures has released a featurette for Poor Things, the latest film from director Yorgos Lanthimos (The Favourite, The Lobster).
In it, we focus on Emma Stone’s Bella Baxter, a deceased woman brought back to life by weird scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe). Together with Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), she embarks on an adventure across the world, keen not to let anything stand in her way - not least social norms.
In the featurette we see her spit out food at a fancy restaurant and feel an old lady’s frizzy hair in wonder. At one point, after being interrupted by a crying infant, she says, “I must go punch that baby.”
According to Stone, who produces the film, Poor Things is about “understanding what it means to be a member of society. The more autonomous she becomes, the more challenged these men seem to be by it. It’s a very very funny film.”
Poor Things premiers in theatres December 8. Watch the featurette below. Or head here to see another highly anticipated film with the first trailer for Saltburn.
