‘This Eye Cream Cleared My Sensitive, Irritated Skin Overnight’

I know practically everyone says they have sensitive skin. But when I say it, I mean that I'll occasionally test out a new skincare product only to wake up with painful, itchy, red bumps all over my face.
While I've mostly curated a fool-proof recovery routine for myself that includes canceled plans, face masks, and cold towels over my face, our eyes are so sensitive, that it's hard to treat with anything but eye creams. I do have eye creams that I love for their brightening effects, but nothing quite soothed my skin in the way I occasionally needed—till I tried Tata Harper's Superkind Bio Barrier Eye Creme ($130, Saks Fifth Avenue).
The Queen of clean skincare, Tata Harper specifically developed her Superkind line of skincare for sensitive, reactive skin like mine.
"People with reactive skin are afraid to try anything that they consider to be too powerful, so they end up with overly simple routines that aren't effective," she says. "With Superkind, we make powerful skincare that's excluded more than 80 of the most common skin triggers, from soy and gluten to fragrances and harsh alcohols,".
Here's more on why I'm a fan of the 100 percent natural eye cream:
It’s a brand I love to support.
As a Colombian business founder, a lot of Tata Harper's skincare philosophy lies in her Latin culture. "As a young girl, my grandmother hosted spa parties in her house every weekend to have women the hair masks and body scrubs she would make from scratch using local Colombian ingredients, straight from the earth," she says. "From a young age, I had that appreciation for helping women appreciate and embrace their individuality."
Still today, Harper continues her grandmother's tradition by hosting beauty classes to help women feel beautiful in their skin. And, like her, she spends a lot of time and energy making sure her products are 100 percent natural.
There’s depth behind the price tag.
Yes, it's a pricey product, but if your budget can take it, you'll know your money is going to a brand that's not just doing good for your skin—it's doing good for the world. Most of the ingredients Harper uses in her products are sourced using organic farming, and everything from the formulation to the manufacturing and packaging is done ethically at her very own farm in Vermont.
Not only that, Harper recognizes that the beauty industry is one of the biggest culprits of creating waste. "The future of sustainability for us is to end single-use products," says Harper. "I'm proud to say we're launching refillable products, starting with our bestsellers and eventually for the entire product line."
Plus, a little bit of this product goes a long way. I've been using the eye cream for about two months and I've barely used a quarter of the bottle. Even half a pump is too much for covering my under eyes, brow bones, and lids.
It cleared up my skin overnight.
As an editor, I test a lot of products. Unfortunately, some leave my skin feeling super irritated. I recently tried a moisturizer that made me wake up with inflamed skin and itchy bumps all over my forehead and under my eyes. This eye cream relieved my sensitive under eyes of itchiness immediately after I applied it, making it an instant holy grail item in my skincare arsenal.
It's also extremely hydrating and has made the skin under my eyes significantly smoother over the past several months I've been using it. If you don't believe me, just test a bit of the product out next time you see a tester of the product out at your local department store. It's so soft, I love rubbing the leftover product on my hands to give them a silky soft touch.
If you have sensitive skin, the Tata Harper's Superkind line is a must-try. My personal favorite is the Radiance Mask ($65, Sephora)—it gives my skin a glow and leaves it feeling baby soft.
