Fake Limo Driver Jokingly Deployed to Pick Up Taylor Swift at Las Vegas Airport

Taylor Swift performs onstage during her Eras Tour at Tokyo Dome on Feb. 7, 2024, in Tokyo, Japan.

Fans appear to be split on what they think about a Taylor Swift-inspired travel joke that was recently carried out at the Harry Reid International Airport near Las Vegas.

The pop star reportedly traveled back to the U.S. on Saturday, Feb. 10 following a four-date run of Eras Tour concerts in Japan. She hurried back so that she could attend Super Bowl LVIII in person on Feb. 11 to cheer on her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

Though the “Blank Space” singer reportedly flew in a private jet, a person with Front Office Sports recently arrived at the Las Vegas airport pretending to be a driver waiting for Swift’s arrival.

In a video clip the sports news outlet shared on social media, the fake driver held up a sign with Swift’s name on it. Some passersby asked if the man was really there to pick up Swift—to which he responded, “Yes, I am”—and others posed beside him to take pictures as he flashed the sign.

“Are you seriously looking for Taylor Swift?” one traveler decked out in Chiefs gear asked.

“Have you seen her? Is she on your plane?” the fake driver asked in a mock-serious tone.

While most Swift and Chiefs fans who passed the fake driver in the airport appeared to be amused by the prank, social media users seemed split on whether they found it funny.

“Y'all just proving how much your milking the Taylor Swift in NFL theory,” one person tweeted.

“No one cares,” one X user wrote, while another urged the driver to find “a real job.”

“How gullible would people have to be to think she’s flying into a giant airport and not some smaller airfield for private jets?” one person asked.

Still, there were some online who found humor in the video.

“Great idea, guy! Very creative. Love it,” one X user wrote, while another simply tweeted, “Bravo!!”

Many of Swift’s fans were initially concerned about the “Lover” songstress’ ability to make it to Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium in time to watch the Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers in the 2024 Super Bowl. However, the Japanese Embassy in the U.S. issued a statement last week assuring Swifties that the time difference between Las Vegas and Tokyo provides plenty of time for her to make the trip between her Feb. 10 concert in Tokyo and the big game on Feb. 11.

Even so, details regarding her specific travel plans remained a mystery with less than 24 hours remaining until kickoff.
