'The Fall Guy’ Reboot Is Happening Sooner Than You Thought
The next David Leitch action film is rapidly approaching, and it might sound a little familiar to some. The Fall Guy, which stars Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, is adapted from and inspired by the ‘80s TV series of the same name. Premiering next year, the movie focuses on the life of a washed up stuntman and his acquaintances. The action-packed flick comes from Universal Pictures and is one of the studio’s most highly-anticipated projects of 2024.
“It’s about a stuntman who gets embroiled in some crazy drama outside of the movie business, and mayhem ensues,” Leitch told Collider before filming began. “And so, there’s fun and action, and we’re trying to make a big summer movie with it.”
Reports of a movie version of The Fall Guy first circulated in 2010. Universal picked up the current version, with Gosling and Leitch (Atomic Blonde, Bullet Train) attached, as an untitled project in 2020, and began filming in 2022. Details of the film have been kept largely underwraps, but here is everything we know so far about The Fall Guy.

David Leitch is the director of The Fall Guy. Leitch is known for his action films, which often have comedic elements. He is the director of Bullet Train (2022), Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019), Deadpool 2 (2018), and Atomic Blonde (2017). Leitch was also a producer and co-director on the first John Wick (2014), although he remains uncredited for the latter position. Prior to directing, Leitch was a stunt double, making The Fall Guy one of his more personal projects.
What is The Fall Guy about?
While specifics about the movie are scarce, the basic premise of the film is adapted from the TV show. During a Universal showcase at the 2023 CinemaCon, Gosling and Blunt made appearances and revealed some additional information, according to JoBlo and Deadline. Gosling plays a stuntman who broke his back and Blunt plays his ex-girlfriend who is directing a major movie. Taylor-Johnson’s character stars in her film, refuses to do any of his own stunts and eventually goes missing.
