Christopher’s plans buffet for the unhoused at First Baptist Church of Fall River

Christopher’s is planning an Italian-style buffet for the unhoused at First Baptist Church of Fall River, 228 N. Main St.

They will be serving on Thursday, July 25, at 4:30 p.m.

Christopher’s put out a call for volunteers in a July 16 Facebook post.

The post also said, “We are passionate about providing full scale meals for people who need a little comfort for even a short time in hopes that [they] walk away knowing they are valued and respected. Please join us if you can.”

Christopher’s has two locations in Fall River, at 1816 S. Main St. and inside the New Boston Medical Center, 373 New Boston Rd.

Fall River Eats: Dogs can cool off at Pink Bean

Sakonnet Vineyard cafe and tasting room open

Sakonnet Vineyard, 162 W. Main Rd., Little Compton, has announced that its cafe and tasting room are now open, Thursdays through Sundays, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

A variety of guest experiences will be available throughout the season, including a cafe, guided tastings, a yoga series, a harvest festival, and other culinary pop-ups. Event packages, which they plan to launch soon, will feature a guided tour of the property, a tasting in the barrel room, and the option to book private events.

Italian Progressive Club hosting Chouri?o and Chips Sandwich Day

The Italian Progressive Club, 310 Slade St., Fall River, is hosting the first Chouri?o and Chips Sandwich Day on Saturday, July 27, from noon to 4 p.m.

Chouri?o and chip sandwiches will be available for purchase at the Bem Bom Portuguese/American Culinary Fusion food truck.

Available for eat-in or take-out.

There will also be cornhole in the IPC’s backyard.

Everyone is welcome.

Comedy & Dinner Night at The Brewhouse District

The Brewhouse District, 139 S. Main St., Fall River is hosting a Comedy & Dinner Night on Thursday, July 25.

Doors open at 7, and the show starts at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets will not be sold at the door.

There’s a new burger to check out at Avo’s Feast, 1601 Pleasant St., Fall River.

Avo’s S?o Jorge cheeseburger is a half-pound patty of their house hamburger blend, seasoned with Avo’s secret family recipe, and featuring S?o Jorge cheese.

Weekly specials at Scottie’s Pub

Scottie’s Pub, 202 Pleasant St., Fall River, has announced this week’s specials.

This week, they’ve got shrimp and scallop Mozambique fettuccine, bacon-wrapped meatloaf, and an oven-fried chicken dinner.

Miss Lizzie’s Coffee gets some special visitors

Miss Lizzie’s Coffee, 242 Second St., Fall River, recently had some interesting visits:

Author Rebecca Pittman stopped by and enjoyed a drink there. Pittman is the author of “The History and Haunting of Lizzie Borden” (2016), as well as books about the Myrtles Plantation, the Stanley Hotel, and some other famous haunts.

Another, aptly-named visitor also stopped by recently: Lizzie Borden the dog, who came by with her owner Frank from South Dakota.

Forever Paws special at County Fare in Somerset

County Fare, 937 County St., Somerset, is helping out Forever Paws Animal Shelter, 300 Lynwood St., Fall River, through the end of the month.

The Forever Paws special comes with 10 Coney dogs and a large bag of chips, for $20.

Until the end of the month, County Fare is donating $2 from every Forever Paws special to the animal shelter.

Cart-exclusive espresso drink at Rea’s

Rea’s has an exclusive espresso drink at their cart, 566 Wilbur Ave., Swansea.

Stop by and try the mint chip shaken espresso.

Get cotton candy flavoring at Black Goose Café

At the Black Goose Café, 2160 Main Rd., Tiverton, you can make your drinks a little sweeter.

They’ve got cotton candy flavoring, which you can add to your favorite drinks.

Adam Sandler trivia night at Westport Social Club

Bring your knowledge to the Westport Social Club, 904 Main Rd., for Adam Sandler trivia night on Monday, July 29, at 7 p.m.

There’s no admission fee, and individuals and teams are welcome.

There will be four to five rounds, with a picture and music round.

The first place winner(s) will get a prize at the end.
