Family mourns late trucker with semi escort to his funeral: 'Anyone who knew my dad knows he likes to go big'
A 48-year-old man’s family honored his love of trucking after he died of brain cancer of Feb. 28.
A drone-shot video posted on Facebook by Luke Shuman shows a funeral procession of semis in honor of his late father, Mark Shuman. Shuman owned his own trucking company in Springfield, Ohio, and his casket was driven on the bed of a pink-trimmed semi with an American flag waving overhead for the Mar. 6 funeral. The side of the truck bears the message “In loving memory of Mark Shuman.”

“On Wednesday, March 6th, we took my dad (Mark Shuman) on his final ride,” Luke Shuman wrote alongside the video. “This was a very emotional, yet proud day for everybody. Anyone who knew my dad knows he likes to go big. You can tell just by looking at some of the trucks he designed in this video. Everyone came together to help my dad go out big.”
Luke added that it was a truly amazing” experience. “I want to thank each individual driver who came out to ride with dad one last time,” he wrote. “The sound of all of your horns blaring at once gave me goosebumps, a smile from ear to ear and many tears.”
Shuman also included a link where donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital can be made in his father’s name; so far $2,300 has been raised.
Shuman’s post has since gone viral, with strangers leaving comments praising the “awesome tribute.”
“I’ve been driving for 33 years and this is how I want to be delivered to heaven,” one trucker wrote. “Thank you drivers, that was an awesome way to show your respect. You know he was right in the cab with a big smile on his face!!!”
