A family-owned Hudson Valley winery is closing after 42 years
For those who liked to spend weekends day-tripping in the Hudson Valley — and possibly wine tasting along the way — there's sad news.
The family-owned Baldwin Vineyards, which has been in business for 42 years in Pine Bush, is closing. The announcement was made on their social media, saying how grateful they are "for the unwavering support and loyalty you have shown us throughout the years."
They wrote: "The decision to close our winery was a difficult one, but we take comfort in the countless memories we have shared with each and every one of you. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for being an integral part of our journey and for savoring our wines with us."
In a statement to the USA Today Network, owner Wendy Baldwin-Landolina said: "After careful consideration, we have made the decision to reitre in order to prioritize our time with familya nd friends."
Their final day of operation will be Dec. 31. A farewell weekend is planned for Dec. 16 and 17 from noon to 5 p.m. and includes live music, discounts of up to 35%, finger foods, wine auctions, and prizes.
As they wrote on Facebook: "Come raise a glass, make cherished memories, and bid adieu to Baldwin Winery in a celebration that will leave you with a sense of nostalgia and a collection of wine to cherish forever."
The Ulster County vineyard has long been known for its strawberry wine. More information can be found at baldwinvineyards.com.
