Fans Are Distraught as Iconic Household Brand Announces Bankruptcy: 'We Are All Hurting'

People everywhere might have to find a new way to store their leftovers, as prominent brand Tupperware has officially filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Laurie Ann Goldman, president and chief executive of Tupperware, explained the news in a statement via Washington Post, saying, "Over the last several years, the Company’s financial position has been severely impacted by the challenging macroeconomic environment."

"As a result, we explored numerous strategic options and determined this is the best path forward," she went on.

Tupperware will seek court approval to sell the business, while also looking to continue operations throughout the process, with Goldman assuring people, “We plan to continue serving our valued customers with the high-quality products they love and trust throughout this process."

As the sad news spread online, Tupperware fans shared strong reactions, with many mourning the possible loss of the well-known brand.

In response to Pop Base's post about the announcement, one fan proclaimed, "Truly the end of an era. Who would've thought that a brand name so synonymous with the product itself could come to such a demise. Nobody ever says 'pass me the rubbermaid' or 'put it in the rubbermaid.'"

"NOOO ITS THE END OF LEFTOVERS ????," said another, while more replied, "how am i supposed to break these news to my mother…," "WHAT," and "moms everywhere just screamed in horror."

Others were a little confused about how this could happen, discussing how prominent the brand, which was founded in 1946, has been for decades.

"I’d have thought my mom was keeping them in business for years," joked one fan, as another similarly wrote, "How? Every mother in the world has a shelf full of these!"

"Damn, we are all hurting out here huh?" noticed someone else.

Plenty of people exclaimed that they didn't even realize that Tupperware was a brand, as the name became synonymous with any food container, with one writing, "Imagine creating a product so iconic the brand becomes a stand-in name for any plastic container and it’s still not enough to keep your company afloat."

Despite the declaration of bankruptcy, the future of Tupperware remains unclear, but from the looks of it, fans of the brand should get their hands on some extra products while they still can.
