Fans have mixed feelings about Julianne Hough's new haircut: 'You look like a whole different person'
While Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper were all the talk at Monday’s premiere of A Star Is Born, Julianne Hough made a big impression too. Although she wasn’t part of the cast, the former Dancing With the Stars pro attracted attention because of her new hairstyle.
Hough is known for switching up her hair, be it color, like the red or pink she’s rocked in the past, or cut. Remember when she wore a pixie? Her latest look is a textured, blunt bob with bangs, cut by Riawna Capri at Nine Zero One Salon in Los Angeles.

Many of Hough’s fans lauded the Grease Live! star’s fresh style, which she attributed to “frizzy ends needing a clean cut after going from red to blonde,” when she shared a pair of photos on Instagram. Although some commenters cheered the way she’s always game to switch up her look, one contingent noted that she looked a lot like Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman with the new ’do. “You look like a whole different person,” @mamashado wrote.
Several others said Hough reminded them of Roxie Hart, the character Renée Zellweger played in the 2002 movie Chicago and who myriad celebs, including Christie Brinkley and Ashlee Simpson, have played on the stage. “Well hello, Roxie Hart!!” @anniehawker wrote. “Next up as Roxy Hart is miss Julianne Hough!” added @noga_arad.
However, many of the comments about her new hairstyle were negative, from people who felt compelled to share their unkind thoughts. They wrote that Hough looked older (she’s only 30) and that the bangs were “not doing it for her.” Others chimed in, “Um I love you…but no!” and “Sorryyy but no.” Someone unhelpfully added, “This style is awful on her.”

Luckily, supportive fans stepped in to defend Hough and her new ’do. “These haters that have the time to write negative comments are miserable people,” @cheyannarmendariz wrote, while @dragonhooper added, “Your comment was rude and unnecessary, how would it feel if suddenly we all picked apart your physical appearance. She is stunning regardless of a haircut.”
Still, others pleaded with Hough to leave her hair alone and stop changing it so much. Hough’s message in the caption of her post suggests that won’t happen, though. “Detaching from what you know can be challenging, but also so freeing,” she wrote. “The best thing about hair is how you get to create, play and just have fun with it!”
