Fans of Michael J. Fox have continued to shower the actor with praise following his unexpected appearance at the 2024 BAFTAs this past Sunday.
Fox, 62, shared a few photos of himself at the Feb. 18 ceremony in London on Instagram. The first of three photos captured the Back to the Future actor standing on the red carpet with his longtime wife, Tracy Pollan. Another black-and-white image showed Fox, who has been battling Parkinson’s disease since the early 1990s, standing alone. The third snapshot was taken while he was onstage presenting the Best Film award.
Fox’s documentary about his battle with the disease was nominated for the Best Documentary BAFTA. The film, Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie, ultimately lost to 20 Days in Mariupol. Despite the nomination, there was a genuine look of surprise and excitement on several audience members’ faces when the “true legend of cinema” was introduced by host David Tennant to present the biggest award of the night.

Fox was pushed onto the stage in a wheelchair and stood at the podium to announce the winner. But before he could do so, he received a standing ovation.
In his Instagram post days after the ceremony, Fox simply wrote, “BAFTAS, thanks!”
Fans posted sweet messages in the comments to thank the “legend” for his Parkinson’s research advocacy and the inspiration they’ve felt throughout his decades-long battle with the disease.
“We love you MJF!” one fan wrote. "You are a beautiful human and Warrior!”
Some fans called Fox an “amazing human,” while others described him as “a true inspiration to all.” One person thanked Fox for “absolutely everything,” and another said his appearance at the ceremony was the “best surprise ever.”
A few focused their comments specifically on the standing ovation he’d received at the BAFTAs, writing that it was “deserved.”
“Had tears watching your well deserved standing ovation,” one Instagram user wrote.
“Loved the standing O,” said another. “The world has so much respect and admiration for you.”
