Reports in April that Red Lobster was contemplating bankruptcy devastated fans of the seafood restaurant. Now, dozens of the chain's locations are shutting down without warning—even for employees—amid the ongoing financial uncertainty.
One day ago, a TikTok user shared that she was notified the Red Lobster restaurant she worked at suddenly closed.
"I just got a phone call this morning saying our location is closed," she explained. "But y'all know Red Lobster was going bankrupt, like they don't have no money to be playing around. And our location, we was cool but we wasn't the best location. So it makes sense.

The TikTok user added, "So I ain't gonna lie, if you work at a Red Lobster, you need to start finding something else to do."
In the comments, fans reacted to the devastating news. One person lamented, "No wayyyyyyy! Red Lobster closing?!?!" while another exclaimed, "NOOOOOOOOOOO THEY GOT RED LOBSTER ??????????."
Yet another TikTok user commented, "Well, I guess I better hop on over to my local Red Lobster for my biscuits because I know it's only a matter of time. ??"
Another TikTok user wrote, "Most red lobsters around closed this morning without notice to any staff... I walked in thinking I was going to work today and saw this..."
The sign on the restaurant's door read: "This location is closed. We look forward to serving you at another Red Lobster location in the future."

One person in the comments declared, "I swear if they close I'm going to cry. Red Lobster was my fancy birthday dinner growing up, that was the only time my family got to go and then when my sister got old enough it was hers too."
Another TikTok user shared, "One of the best memories growing up was my dad taking me to red lobster, I used to be obsessed ??."
Meanwhile, yet another commenter wrote, "Wait what! I drove past the local red lobster around dinner time and was so confused there was no cars in the parking lot!"
On Monday, May 13, Neal Sherman, founder and CEO of the liquidation firm TAGeX Brands announced via LinkedIn that it was spearheading the closure of over 50 Red Lobster restaurant locations. Restaurant Business Magazine reported just one day later that 99 locations were shuttering, roughly 15% of the chain's 700 locations.
