Fans Send Vanna White Wishes After 'Wheel of Fortune' Absence
Vanna White was noticeably absent from last night's episode of Wheel of Fortune, so when the social team shared a promo of clips from the show, fans wasted no time sending their love and well wishes to the star.
"Miss you Vanna," one wrote. "GET well soon!!!??"
"Get well soon Vanna??. And nice having you for the night, Bridgette," another shared.
"Poor Vanna - hope she gets well soon," a third added. "Sending her my best wishes for a speedy recovery."
"Get well soon!" someone else exclaimed.
White's absence is something Parade reported on a few weeks ago, following the reveal that the stylish TV personality came down with COVID-19 while filming season 41 at the end of July.
Unfortunately, the 66-year-old fell ill during Teacher's Week, which, according to reports, could not be rescheduled due to the educators' commitments and the start of the new school year, so this year's version will look a little different than the last. That said, Wheel of Fortune found the perfect substitute: the 2023 California Teacher of the Year recipient, Bridgette Donald-Blue, who is set to take over all letter-turning duties in the episodes airing between Monday, Oct. 2 and Friday, Oct. 6.
This week's nonappearance is only her fourth absence from the game show during her 41-year run as co-host and the first time she's called out since 1991. The handful of other times she required a stand-in was when she took a brief leave following the death of her boyfriend in 1986, for her honeymoon in 1991, and after getting sick later on that same year.
