Fans Stunned By Harassment Lawsuit Filed Against Lizzo
Fans are expressing their disappointment in Lizzo after a group of former dancers filed a lawsuit against the "Good as Hell" singer today. Aug. 1.
The complaint, lodged by Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez, names Lizzo, her production company, and her dance captain, Shirlene Quigley, alleging a hostile work environment and multiple forms of harassment and discrimination, including "sexual, religious and racial harassment, disability discrimination, assault and false imprisonment," as reported by ABC.
As Lizzo has always publicly asserted herself as a steadfast advocate against all of these behaviors, her fans were stunned to hear the allegations, taking to Twitter to share their shock in the wake of the news.
One noted how unsurprised they are each time they hear something negative about a celebrity, with the exception of Lizzo.
celebrities being bad ppl doesn’t surprise me anymore but that lizzo news definitely caught me off guard

Another agreed, saying that the revelation "really has knocked the wind out of" them.
i really try not to idolize celebrities bc anyone can be a horrible person but lizzo really has knocked the wind out of me as someone who has gone out of her way to be perceived as a safe space and an ADVOCATE for all people… it’s insane how two faced someone can be.

The news was "devastating" for someone else, who shared their love with those who may have been affected by the alleged harassment.
i hope the victims of lizzo get the justice and support they deserve. it is devastating to find out lizzo is the complete opposite of what she stood for. my love and support goes out to her VICTIMS and only them ??

Some had a word of advice, suggesting that employers maintain healthy boundaries with their staff.
Yea just don’t be friends with your employees it’s not worth it lol to much grey area. Lizzo was treating it like a night out with some besties and these people work for you.

Someone else got a little philosophical, suggesting that we only need to wait long enough to discover that anyone and everyone we admire will prove themselves problematic in the end.
This Lizzo lawsuit proves that if you wait long enough, eventually all of your faves will turn out to be problematic.
