After weeks of over-the-top costumes and jaw dropping performances, The Masked Singer's second season came to and end Wednesday night. Though the Flamingo and the Rottweiler put up a strong fight in the finals, it was the Fox who was crowned the winner. But more important than seeing the creature take home the golden trophy was seeing who was hiding beneath the furry costume. And, in the end, the fans were proven to be right from the get-go.

Who Is the Fox on The Masked Singer?

In the beginning, many of the video clues seemed to point to Jeremy Renner — especially the superhero ones since he's in The Avengers. (Plus, Renner can sing.) But after seeing the Fox perform a few times, fans decided on a different celebrity: Whose Line Is It Anyway? star Wayne Brady. And, low and behold, they were right.

The Fox liked to name drop, saying he'd worked with people from Doogie to Doubtfire — aka Doogie Howser (Neil Patrick) Harris and Mrs. Doubtfire (Robin Williams). Brady has connections to both stars. He played Harris' brother in How I Met Your Mother and worked with Williams before his death.

The Fox also liked to make reference to his "bark," saying that if he changed it to sound like the other voices, he got along just fine. One Twitter user pointed out that Brady stuttered as a kid and was picked on for it as a result.

Another fan thought the "bark" clue might reference Brady's ability to do spot-on impressions.

The Nov. 13 episode handed out a few more clues that fans think point to Brady, like that he is "part of a pack," which some fans think is a reference to his ensemble work on Whose Line Is It Anyway?

There were also severla reference to Brady's comedic background during the season. The Dec. 4 episode, for example, showed a chalkboard with "Yes, and... " written on it. This is a common phrase associated with an improve exercise that comedians like Brady, often do. (Especially on the show Whose Line Is It Anyway? ). Another clue hinted that the Fox does his best work at night, and Whose Line airs at night. One of the Dec. 10 clues was also a photo of three stools, like the ones the Whose Line actors sit on during the show.

One clue that threw people off was a reference to being a "true blue superhero." Though Brady doesn't have any superhero roles on his resume, one Twitter user pointed out that he will play a major reoccurring role in CW's superhero drama, Black Lightning.

After being crowned the season 2 winner, Brady got very emotional, saying that "this is all I’ve done my whole life … I haven’t always been happy … [you're] making me one happy fox."

He also hoped that his appearance on The Masked Singer would prove to people that he is more than "the funny guy." And, to be honest, we hope so too.
