Fans Warn 'Today's Dylan Dreyer About Son's Recovery Following Post-Surgery Footage
Dylan Dreyer recently opened up about why her son had to visit the hospital, and while many Today fans are sending her much "love" and wishes for a "speedy recovery" for her little guy, some are also expressing concern.
The meteorologist took to Instagram with a duo of photos and video footage of her middle child Ollie, 3, on Wednesday, Aug. 30, revealing that the youngster had undergone surgery, but was in good spirits.
"My little trooper!! Ollie had his tonsils out this morning and was serenading me by this afternoon! Love you so much buddy!! #petethecat," she explained in the caption of the post, which featured a snippet of the boy rocking out while singing and playing a small toy guitar.
Dreyer also showed appreciation toward the medical staff responsible for Ollie during the operation. "Thank you to the doctors and nurses at @nyphospital for taking such good care of my little guy!" she wrote.
The mom-of-three was absent for the day from the TV broadcast to accompany her child for the tonsillectomy, which consists of the surgical removal of the tonsils from the back of the throat.
One social media fan agreed with the doting mother's sentiment, writing, "omg!! what a trooper!!! ??????????," while another chimed in with, "What a sweet boy. So glad he’s okay."
Although the procedure seemingly couldn't keep him down for long, some fans in the comments issued warnings about the tot's spirited musical performance, urging the 42-year-old to be careful and "watch him closely" in the coming days as he fully recovers.
"Great recovery but watch him closely the next 7 days," someone warned, while an additional Instagrammer offered: "I absolutely love you Dylan, and all of your posts. I'm a retired pediatric nurse, and I just want to gently suggest something. Singing is not recommended for at least a week after surgery. Please let him heal, and then sing sing sing!"

Someone else echoed that advice, penning, "I don’t want to freak you out, but the next few days are probably going to be a bit tough. Lots of Popsicles, chicken and rice soup, & Jell-O. Getting the tonsils out is so worth it though! Sending big hugs to everyone."
Two more users, who seemingly also have experience with the surgery, showed more concern, writing, "Yes next few days may be tough. Scabs will be painful. Had mine out in high school it was rough. The younger you are the quicker you heal so hoping for a speedy recovery for sweet Ollie!????" and "Tomorrow will be rough. Be ready. Scabs will form & cause pain. Get those popsicles ready!"
In addition to the preschooler, Dreyer shares two additional sons—Calvin, 6, and Rusty, 1, with husband, Brian Fichera.
