Fanta Reportedly Unveiling Black Soda for Halloween
It looks like Halloween-lovers have something else to be excited for this year.
The Coca-Cola company, makers of Fanta beverages, is reportedly unleashing a new mystery soda flavor this fall—and it's black.
The dark-colored sip, a part of its What the Fanta collection, is a zero-sugar option that will "be black in color with a secret flavor profile that does not match its appearance," according to a July 21 Instagram post by self-proclaimed "Professional Chubster" food blogger account Markie_devo.
"What The Fanta Halloween will be available in 20-ounce bottles and a frozen dispensed format," the reveal added, noting that it will "hit stores soon," though no date was shared.
In the comments of the upload, soda-drinkers dropped their thoughts on the soon-to-come limited-edition release.
"Why they gotta be zero sugar those sodas be automatically nasty to me," one displeased social media user wrote, while another seemed to be willing to try it, under one condition: "Just as long as it’s not licorice ??."
"Yaay! I can only drink diet and zero ??????," a third celebrated, as a fourth, on the other hand, sarcastically theorized that it may "taste like battery acid."
Someone else excitedly chimed in with, "I HOPE THEY KEEP THIS PERMANENTLY on the shelves!! ??????."

"The 'What the Fanta' campaign is anchored by the mystery 'Blue' zero-sugar flavor," which was available recently, per a Coca-Cola press release. The statement also promised that "more enigmatic flavors will roll out in retail stores and restaurants over the coming months," so maybe this Black rendition is what they were teasing!
Although the brand itself has yet to release any official confirmation of the news on its own social media channels or website, generally the releases Markie_devo posts about end up being legit. It shared recent news of another treat making its way to stores this fall, Little Debbie's Mini Pumpkin Spice Donuts, and the earlier talked-about Ding Dongs x Twinkie mashups, so they seem to have the inside scoop on all-things-foodie.
