The Fayetteville Observer's 40 Under 40 Class of 2024: Meet Robyn E. Pitt
Robyn E. Pitt, 26, of Fayetteville, is the marketing and communications director for the Greater Fayetteville Chamber.
She was nominated for 40 Under 40 because she "is deeply engaged with Fayetteville and the surrounding community in her personal and professional life," nominator David Scott writes. "As the marketing director for the Greater Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce, she is responsible for developing and implementing creative marketing communications strategies that bridge a gap between various industries. With her expertise, she has increased brand awareness for the Greater Fayetteville Chamber. However, what truly sets Robyn apart is her commitment to giving back to the community. She volunteers on a monthly basis to multiple causes including the Phoenix Center and Salvation Army. She is also committed to mentoring and educating our local youth. Through these efforts, she has directly contributed to improving the lives of individuals in need and has helped build a stronger, more supportive community. These small but impactful efforts make Robyn a person who embodies spirit of our Can Do City."

Who are your immediate family members?
Mom, Sara Sara Pitt; dad, Damarcus Pitt; and brothers, Frankie, Jon, Alex, DJ aka Damarcus Jr.
What does your job entail?
I oversee branding, photo/video, social media, writing pieces, PR and advertisement for the Chamber and its divisions, to include the Military Affairs Council, Government Relations Committee and Consumer Protection Division.
Where did you receive your education?
High Point University for bachelor's and master's degrees. Seventy-First High School and FTCC for high school connections program (hybrid high school and college).
What community and professional groups are you affiliated with?
The arts and philanthropy communities (volunteer for The Arts Council, Second Harvest Food Bank, Salvation Army of the Sandhills, and more.) I am also the president of the Kiwanis Young Professionals which advocates for youth and familial betterment through service projects, scholarship and grant awards.
How do you volunteer your time in the community?
I volunteer in a wide variety of opportunities that help fulfill the community's security and cultural needs. This includes anything related to educational and entertaining youth betterment experiences, the arts, food/housing/clothing donations and domestic/sexual abuse advocacy.
What is one thing you wish people knew or understood better about your profession?
I wish people understood how impactful creativity truly is. There are subtle, subconscious influences conveyed through design and cultural activities that make life interesting and enjoyable. We use creativity to tell our stories, engineer our surroundings, address challenges in innovative ways and overall make life more enjoyable.
What's the best advice you've ever received and/or the worst advice you've ever followed?
The best advice I have ever received is to take nothing personal. Allow yourself to acknowledge your emotions and be present, reflect on why and how you got there, and then re-direct your energy into action that creates your ideal outcome.
What goal have you already achieved, and how did you make it happen?
I never expected to graduate with my bachelor's, a master's and then find a career that aligned with my skillset and philanthropic nature. I made it happen by persevering even when fearful, discouraged and lost.
If you weren't in your current profession, what would you be?
If I weren't a creative professional I would be a quantum neurophysicist. I love observing and measuring how and why life works within and around humans, both macro to micro. Science and esoterism are lifelong loves of mine, alongside the arts, but I was not a fan of math.
What are five things (not people or pets) you can't live without?
Five things I cannot live without are my sketchbook, a quality pen, my Canon camera, a picture of my family and a telescope.
What's something you do outside of work to enrich yourself?
Outside of work I love learning. It sounds nerdy, but I will try new skills or watch videos exploring topics I know little about. Currently, I am getting into fashion design and photography.
What's a song that always makes you happy or that motivates you?
"Only If" by Steve Lacy. It reminds me to be grateful for where I am in life instead of worrying about the past or future.
