  • Felicity Huffman’s daughter Sophia might be retaking her SAT.

  • Felicity initially paid $15,000 to cheat on the test and get her daughter a better score.

Ah, it’s another day in this glorious year of 2019, which means it’s another day with news about the college admissions scandal, aka Operation Varsity Blues, aka what I might dress up as for Halloween this year.

As a reminder, after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit mail and honest services fraud a few months ago, Felicity Huffman was sentenced to two weeks in jail and a $30,000 fine. And if you’re like, “I have no idea what mail and honest services fraud is,” basically, it boils down to the fact that Felicity paid $15,000 to get an SAT proctor to cheat by increasing her daughter Sophia’s SAT score.

And now it looks like Sophia might just retake the SAT. According to TMZ, Sophia still “wants to go to college,” and that means she has to take a legitimate SAT test. And because “there’s no proof she was involved in rigging the first one she took,” it seems as though the College Board will likely let her take the test again.

For what it’s worth, Felicity said, “I honestly didn’t and don’t care about my daughter going to a prestigious college” but got caught up in the scandal because she “just wanted to give her a shot at being considered for a program where her acting talent would be the deciding factor” rather than Sophia’s SAT math score.

All that said, if Sophia does decide to retake the SAT, she’ll still have to deal with colleges deciding whether they want to let her in after such a public scandal, and that might be a bit, er, tricky.
