At Fendi's Fall 2019 show in Milan this past February, the brand offered an emotional tribute to the late legendary designer Karl Lagerfeldwho passed away just days prior at 85, playing David Bowie's "Heroes" as models made their last lap around the runway.

But now, the Italian fashion house has a bigger salute planned: Fendi will hold a couture runway show in Rome on July 4 paying homage to Lagerfeld, according to WWD. LVMH Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Bernard Arnault first discussed the runway show at LVMH's annual general assembly in Paris on Thursday, saying it will "reprise all [Lagerfeld's] creations" during his 54-year tenure at the luxury brand.

Fendi last held a show in Rome for its Fall 2016 Haute Couture collection at the Trevi Fountain (which was restored in part to the financial support of the fashion house). The show, which honored the brand's 90th anniversary, featured models like Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner on a clear platform which created the illusion that they were walking on water.

According to WWD, the collection in the upcoming July 4 show will be exhibited in Rome afterwards.

As of now, Fendi has not announced a successor to Lagerfeld's long-held position; in any case, whoever follows Lagerfeld will have immensely big shoes to fill.

Fashionista has reached out to Fendi and will update with any further information.
