Fido's bowl is full at these dog-friendly restaurants, breweries at the Jersey Shore
It's funny that we call dog man's best friend when we spend so much time without them.
But what if you could pull up a bar stool with your pooch? Or sit down to a nice meal at a restaurant?
There are plenty of restaurants that allow dogs outside, but these places around the Jersey Shore go the extra mile for Fido.
Asbury Ale House, Asbury Park
Not only can your pet tag along here, they have their own menu.
Sit outside with your dog, where they can enjoy a range of menu options like chicken, ground beef, or veggies with penne or rice.
For mom and dad, this spot is known for its vast drink menu, including over 60 beers on tap, and seasonal cocktails like frozen margaritas and colada flights.
Go: 531 Cookman Ave.; 732-455-3808, asburyalehouse.com.
Best food truck: Drum roll please: The APP Readers' Choice Food Truck Contest winner is ...
Asbury Park Brewery, Asbury Park
Your dog likes to sniff out what's new in town, so consider stopping by Asbury Park Brewery, which just opened this month.
The best part? Leashed dogs are allowed inside.
There is no better bar mate than man's best friend. Not only can they hang out while you drink beer, there are dog treats for sale, too. And the freshly filled water bowls set out for dogs are just as crisp as the brews.
Go: 614 Cookman Ave., Suite 1; 732-361-0481, asburyparkbrewery.com.
Subs on the beach: These Jersey Shore sub shops are just a short walk from the beach
Burger 25, Ship Bottom and Toms River
Your pup may be disappointed that he can't dig into one of Burger 25's mouthwatering creations, like the Bacon Royale topped with a fried egg, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, raw or sautéed onions and pickles.
But they do have some options here, and they're allowed to hang out outside. Order Rover a Doggie Deluxe, a unseasoned beef patty with American cheese. For dessert, order the Milkbone Sundae (vanilla ice cream with a Milkbone) or the Whip Lick, a small cup of whipped cream.
Go: For Ship Bottom: 1915 Long Beach Blvd.; 609-879-2525. For Toms River: 199 Route 37 East; 732-270-0025, burger25.com. A new Brick location will be opening in July.
Riverside Cafe, Manasquan
Dogs are given the royal treatment at Riverside Cafe with special "Doggie Happy Meals."
They include dog food, biscuits, treats, a tennis ball, waste bags and other dog-friendly goodies to keep them occupied while you eat. A small is $7.95, large is $9.95.
But if you don't buy a Doggie Happy Meal, no worries, because the cafe is willing to make almost anything on the menu dog-friendly. Chicken? You got it. A hamburger patty? No problem. And they'll cut it up small.
All dogs will also be welcomed with treats and fresh water. Service animals are allowed inside, but all other dogs can enjoy outdoor dining.
Go: 425 1st Ave.; 732-245-4234, riversidecafemanasquan.com.
Adoptable pets: It's a great time to adopt a dog or cat from a Jersey Shore animal shelter. Here's why
Sun Harbor Seafood and Grill, Barnegat
This Bayfront bar and restaurant isn't just relaxing for mom and dad.
Bring your fur-baby along to take in the views, breathe in the salty air, and indulge in some treats just for them. Order a Pup Cup with whipped cream and a Milkbone, Doggie burger or Doggie chicken (unseasoned).
Dogs are allowed outside or inside at the bar, but not upstairs in the main dining room.
Go: 451 E. Bay Ave.; 609-622-6190, sunharborseafoodandgrill.com.
Tall Oaks Brewery, Farmingdale
It's not often that breweries, bars or wineries are kid- and dog-friendly.
But at the new Tall Oaks Brewery, tucked behind a peaceful horse farm on nearly 5 acres of open land, kids and pups are free to play while their parents sip some great brews. All dogs that are well behaved and leashed are welcome.
There are fire pits, and a partially fenced in area, setting the scene for a truly relaxing summer night for the whole family. Owners Mike and Chelsey Ziolkowski's sister brewery, Bradley Brew Project in Bradley Beach, is also dog-friendly.
Go: For Tall Oaks: 450 Colts Neck Road, 732-256-4388 talloaksbrew.com, instagram.com/talloaksbrew. For Bradley Brew Project: 714 Main St., Bradley Beach; 732-455-8047, bradleybrew.com.
