Fifty Plus Zone members enjoy the Friday nightlife
Members of the City of Wichita Falls 50 Plus Zone kick up their feet and scoot their boots at Friday night dances with a live band.
The 50 Plus Zone Ballroom is located on the second floor of the Wichita Falls Public Library in downtown.
Beginning back in January of 2008, the zone started hosting one of four different bands each week: Rusty Nail Band, Pony Express, Kickin' Country and Ole Troubadours. The Friday night live band dances last from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.
The performances typically see anywhere from 90 to 100 people every week, including zone members and the general public.
Members pay for a $7 ticket, and general admission is $12. No children are allowed at these events.
Each Friday night event sees complimentary snacks, soft drinks, iced tea and coffee — no alcohol.
Courtesy food and desserts are served as well, each time from a different host. Hospice of Wichita Falls provided free ice cream sundaes on Aug. 16 while Kickin' Country provided the music.
