A fight between Danielle 'Cash me ousside' Bregoli and two kids, 17 and 9 went viral — but it may be fake

A video of a violent fight between three young Instagram stars that went viral on social media is raising questions about the children’s parents.

The brawl occurred in Los Angeles, Calif. on Sunday with 9-year-old rapper Lil Tay, a rising star with 506K Instagram followers and a record deal and Victoria Waldrip, 17, otherwise known as Woahh Vicky, on one side, and 15-year-old Danielle Bregoli, a.k.a. Bhad Bhabie,” who went viral after appearing on a 2016 episode of Dr. Phil called “I Want To Give Up My Car-Stealing, Knife-Wielding, Twerking 13-Year-Old Daughter Who Tried To Frame Me For A Crime” on the other. During the episode, Bregoli was ridiculed for the phrase, “Cash me ousside, how bout dah” which led to the release of her rap single “These Heaux” and a music deal with Atlantic Records.

Lil Tay’s Instagram account states she is managed by actress Miranda Cosgrove, although it’s unclear if the two are related.

According to a story published Monday by TMZ, the fight broke out when Bregoli challenged Waldrip to fight. Waldrip is famous for assaulting a police officer and claiming to be black (a recent police report lists her as white), which earned her a reputation similar to Rachel Dolezal, a former president of the NAACP whose parents “outed” her as a white woman in 2015.

In the video, Bregoli approaches Waldrip, who is standing in a crowd with Lil Tay, and challenges her to a fight, because, according to TMZ, Waldrip allegedly used a racist term to describe one of her friends. While the two brawl, Lil Tay can be seen screaming at Bregoli to leave. The scene ends when Bregoli and her bodyguard retreat.

However, the tension spilled over to Twitter where a video of Lil Tay responding to the incident has gained 319K views. In the footage, the tween carries a wad of cash and spews expletives. “…She’s trying to act cool with her bodyguard but she can’t do s***…she can’t even punch right…Go back to beating up your mama on Dr. Phil.” Waldrip, who is sitting next to Lil Tay, chimes in with her own insults.

Waldrip also recorded her own tirade directed at Bregoli, threatening to ‘beat your a**.”

The response on social media has been incredulous over the animosity between the children — and they are children— and for their lack of parental presence.

However, according to parenting expert Sharon Silver, the creator of Proactive Parenting, the video reveals more than a teenage brawl. “The fight appears staged for several reasons,” she tells Yahoo Lifestyle. “From the beginning, we see [Bregoli] look down and take her place on what is likely a designated area and [Waldrop] is not doing much to suppress the smile on her face.” Silver says the most obvious indicator that the video is staged are the adults present, one of whom reassures the crowd, ‘It’s all for the cameras.’”

However, the experience looks different for Lil Tay. “The 9-year-old seems conflicted about whether or not the confrontation is fake,” she says. “Regardless, we see her swept up in intense emotions.” Adding to the intensity of emotions, says Silver, is the fact that 9-year-old kids have not yet learned impulse control which could explain why Lil Tay engages in the confrontation.

Fake or not, the impact on a developing tween is very real. “This 9-year-old girl is being introduced to aggression and violence,” says Silver. “And that’s a shame.”
