Fireworks, festivals and food: What to look for July 4 in Winnebago County

OSHKOSH – Festivals, food and fireworks!

It must be July 4 in Winnebago County.

From parades to live music and petting zoos, there definitely won’t be a shortage of activities in Oshkosh and the surrounding communities of Neenah, Menasha and Omro to mark Independence Day.

And, of course, fireworks! Who can forget fireworks?

Here’s what’s planned.

Neenah-Menasha

CommunityFest opens July 3 with a cookout in Curtis Reed Square featuring live music acts from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The day’s festivities culminate with a Parade of Lights from Riverside Park in Neenah to downtown Menasha.

Neenah will also be staging a Pajama Jam in Shattuck Park July 3 as part of the festival’s lineup of events.

CommunityFest continues July 4 in both cities starting from 11:30 a.m. at Riverside and Jefferson Park. Events include petting zoos, live music performances, free demonstrations, face painting, magic shows, and the Festival Foods Fireworks.

Oshkosh

The Oshkosh Fourth of July Parade begins at 9 a.m. at Otter Street and North Main Street and continues north on Main to East Irving Avenue before ending at Hazel Street.

Menominee Park then plays host to 19 food trucks and the Oshkosh Festival Foods Fireworks Show from 3 p.m.

Omro

Future Omro Chamber is staging an entire day of festivities at Scott Park July 4, beginning with a craft show at 9 a.m. and culminating in a fireworks show starting at 6 p.m.

An Independence Day Parade will be held around noon, followed by a kids' chalk art competition, a quacker duck race and the Mason Street Band.

Winneconne

For the second successive year, the Winneconne Chamber of Commerce is adding a brief daytime fireworks show to its annual fireworks display July 4.

Catering to younger audiences, the daytime display begins at 3:30 p.m. and will feature colored smoke, a fireball and a few medium booms.

The evening display begins around 9:45 p.m. and takes place over the Wolf River, north of the bridge.

Utica/Fisk

Fireworks over Fisk will be celebrating its 50th anniversary July 3 with a new launch site just south of Highway 44.

Parking and viewing will remain at the Utica Volunteer Fire Department and the surrounding side roads along Fisk Avenue and Utica Road.
