Fireworks and festivities: Stillwater's July Fourth

Jul. 1—The City of Stillwater is having several events to celebrate Independence Day.

Hosted by the City of the Stillwater, "Boomer Blast" is free to all ages and open to the public. This year marks 30 years of the even.

It begins 6 p.m. at Boomer Lake. There will be food trucks, music, extra restrooms, comfort stations, additional roadway lighting for parking and a fireworks show at 9:30 p.m. Parking is located around the park. Parking is also available at Stillwater High School, but be prepared to walk.

"Temperatures could be as high as triple digits, so we ask attendees to take proper precautions," said Rob Hill, emergency management director, in a press release.

Another event being held is the "Highpoint Night Market" block party at 611 W. Highpoint Dr. This evening of art, music and culture is also free to attend to see local artists, vendors, musicians and later, the fireworks.

Empress Ash will be playing a live DJ set, Brew Brothers will be serving coffee and Stillwater Brewers' League will have Cherry Lime Kombucha and Smash Beer on tap. Event planners will have a tent up for shade, yard games and snacks.

This event happens from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday, and parking is available on Highpoint Drive and at the corner of Lakeview Drive and Husband Street. For more information, call 405-474-8581.

Guests at both events are encouraged to bring a picnic blanket or chairs.

OSU Lake Carl Blackwell is hosting its annual golf cart parade starting at 10 a.m. Thursday. Those participating in the parade must bring their own golf carts. The fee is $5 per golf cart.
