The First Excerpt From the Meghan and Harry Tell-All Is Here
The first excerpt from the Meghan Markle and Prince Harry biography is here.
The tell-all goes into detail about Meghan and Harry separating themselves from the royal family.
We're starting a new chapter in the ongoing royal family saga. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's secrets are about to be revealed in the new biography, Finding Freedom: Harry, Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family. The book will be available for purchase on August 11. Until then, we have an excerpt to hold us over before we inevitably tear through the pages of the dishy tell-all.
"The Sussexes had made the monarchy more relatable to those who had never before felt a connection. However, there were concerns that the couple should be brought into the fold; otherwise, the establishment feared their popularity might eclipse that of the royal family," author Omid Scobie writes. "Increasingly Harry had grown frustrated that he and Meghan often took a back seat to other family members."
He continued, "While they both respected the hierarchy of the institution, it was difficult when they wanted to focus on a project and were told that a more senior ranking family member, be it Prince William or Prince Charles, had an initiative or tour being announced at the same time—so they would just have to wait."
Let's unpack that. Basically, the royal family likes the star power Meghan and Harry have, but they also fear that they will overshadow the senior royals. This and the fact that Meghan and Harry couldn't focus on their projects on their own schedules created tension.
"For months the couple tried to air these frustrations, but the conversations didn't lead anywhere," continues Omid. "Worse, there were just a handful of people working at the palace they could trust. Outside this core team, no information was safe... Highly emotional and fiercely protective of his wife and son, Harry was drained by the unique circumstances of his family, which, as a source described, 'doesn't have the opportunity to operate as an actual family.'"
Alright we're gonna need this book, like, yesterday. In the meantime, we'll be dissecting the full excerpt here.
