Take a First Look at Amazon's 'The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power' Series

Amazon has revealed the official first look images of its upcoming The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power series, an adaptation from J.R.R. Tolkien's mythical world.

The images were released on Vanity Fair as a part of the first-look feature that gives fans a glimpse of Middle-Earth. The series is set to take place in the Second Age of Middle-Earth, before the War of the Ring and the appearance of Frodo and Bilbo. The storyline follows the cast of characters as they confront the re-emerging and long-feared evil that hovers over Middle-Earth.

The first look shows Ismael Cruz Córdova playing a silvan elf called Arondir wielding a flaming torch. Another image showcases Elrond and Galadriel reunited in the elven kingdom of Lindon, while another showcases the new character Halbrand portrayed by Charlie Vickers. The images also capture the moment Halbrand meets Galadriel and the dwarven princess Disa played by Sophia Nomvete who is standing at the entrance of Khazad-d?ms. The featured image sees Galadirel taking a moment as her survival at sea appears to be a pivotal moment in the story.

According to Vanity Fair, the plot dives into the "magic, warfare, and mythology" that occur after the forging of the rings. Showrunner Patrick McKay said, "Rings for the elves, rings for dwarves, rings for men, and then the one ring Sauron used to deceive them all. It's the story of the creation of all those powers, where they came from, and what they did to each of those races."

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power arrives on Amazon Prime Video on September 2.
