"It's all relative" is a saying that applies to surfing. So when most surfers think about which waves qualify as dangerous, the bar is set pretty low.
But what about surfing's heavy hitters who charge the biggest and gnarliest waves out there? What's dangerous to them? North Shore native Koa Rothman is one of those guys. After all, he was born and raised around some of the world's most respected surf.
We've recently watched him get injured surfing Australian slabs, listened to his Cloudbreak survival tactics, and he regularly surfs Pipeline. He also just told the world to not even bother trying to surf there.
Rothman's latest vlog above dropped today. In it, he reveals his list of the top five most dangerous waves in the world, and why they qualify.
He also shares some fun facts in the video, like what makes the waves break the way they do and which surf spot has killed the most people.
