Five Scouts in this North Jersey troop will advance to Eagle rank

RIDGEWOOD — Five members of Scout Troop 7 in the village will receive Eagle Scout Awards on June 16.

The five members completed the requirements for the highest award in Scouting during the past year under the supervision of Scout Masters David Jones and Ketan Patel. Only 8% of Scouts nationwide earn the rank, the highest in the program.

Scouts and their Eagle projects

Joshua Nosrati Fishkin, 18, son of Leila Nosrati Fishkin and Peter Fishkin, is a senior at Ridgewood High School. His Eagle project was shelves and books for K-1 classrooms at Paterson Charter School for Science and Technology.

Read Philip Hamon, 17, son of Julie and Jeffrey Hamon, is a junior at Ridgewood High School. His Eagle project was to build benches, wood and wood holders for the renovated fireplace meeting area at Kearney Scout House.

Jaywu Jun,18, son of Hyewon and Seung Jun is a senior at Ridgewood High School. His Eagle project was to build planter boxes at Ridgecrest Senior Housing in the village.

Robert Edward McCabe,17, son of Jennifer and Bill McCabe, is a senior at Ridgewood High School. His Eagle project was benches and planters to enhance the pick-up and drop-off area of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Ridgewood.

Tej Mistry Patel, 18, son of Niti Mistry Patel and Ketan Patel, is a senior at Bergen County Academies in Hackensack. His Eagle project was a stepping stone pathway at Thielke Arboretum in Glen Rock.

The award ceremonies will be held at 2 p.m. on June 16, at West Side Presbyterian Church in Ridgewood.
