In the realm of comfort foods, meatball sandwiches are high on the list. They're carby, cheesy, and the good ones don't skimp on the marinara. I would venture to say meatball sandwiches are superior to spaghetti and meatballs, but don't quote me on that.

These meatball sandwiches do things a little differently. In fact, they're not really sandwiches at all! They're boats! They start out as many good sandwiches do though, with a hoagie roll! Cut an oblong hole into the top of roll and empty out the center to make room for meatballs. Top that with some slices of provolone and pop those babies in the oven! When the cheese is melted, they're ready to be stuffed with meatballs!

Why this cheese-first method, you ask? Well, unless you like your sandwiches soggy, cheese will be your new best sandwich friend. The melted cheese helps marinara-proof your roll so it remains sturdy and sog-free for the entirety of it's consumption. Though if you're like us, you'll scarf it down long before that's an issue. (So. Good.)
