Viewers know and love Bryan and Sarah Baeumler as the hosts of HGTV’s Renovation Island, a show that documents the couple moving from the comfort of their Canadian home to San Andros Island in the Bahamas to renovate a rundown resort.

Fans of the show also know that the process has been anything but affordable. In fact, according to reports, the couple invested a whopping $10 million upfront and has been slammed with renovation fees, as well as unforeseen charges as a result of COVID-19 and Hurricane Dorian. In other words, Renovation Island is a huge undertaking—which begs the question: What did the Baeumler's do before they decided to take on the project?

What Were Bryan and Sarah's Jobs Before Renovation Island?

While many American HGTV fans weren’t introduced to the Baeumlers until Renovation Island, the couple actually had a career with the Canadian offshoot of the network years prior. In fact, Bryan had not one, not two, not three, but four other shows—House of Bryan, Leave it to Bryan, Disaster DIY, and Bryan Inc—as well as guest appearances on shows like Home To Win. Where he utilized his handyman skills to renovate spaces, his wife Sarah joined him in episodes to put her design prowess to work. And, with all of these shows and appearances, the Baeumlers were able to gain experience and (presumably) a significant savings account. (After all, it’s been determined that a single HGTV episode costs between $45,000 and $50,000.)

So, when you multiply that by the many shows the couple has had, and add guest appearance feed (which are typically at least $10,000 per episode) into the mix, it’s safe to assume that the Baeumlers had quite the career before taking on Renovation Island.

That’s before even considering the Baeumlers’ other businesses, too. Bryan is the president and CEO of his construction company, Baeumler Quality Construction and Renovations Inc. He also launched Baeumler Approved, a website that connects homeowners with reputable home services companies in Canada. Additionally, he created a peer-to-peer app, Hey Bryan, which also connects homeowners with home service companies.

Point being: With multiple sources of income and a solid relationship with HGTV, it’s no wonder the Baeumlers make it look easy to embark on a Caribbean renovation adventure.
