I Found the Perfect Everyday Underwear I'll Be Wearing for the Rest of Time
Stripe & Stare
Legally, I've been an adult since 2013, but my real reckoning with adulthood came the first time I had to buy myself socks and underwear. It's embarrassing to admit, but even through college, my mom would replenish my socks and undies in perfect intervals — I never had to think about refreshing my underwear drawer. Over the last few years, I have been hit with the abrupt realization that I took my mom's shopping for granted because it has been basically impossible to find great everyday underwear. That is, until I came across Stripe & Stare.
Let me just say that I know where to get nice, lace lingerie — the type with all the bells and whistles. I actually own too many of this type because they have been compensating for the lack of plain cotton that has eluded me for years. For wardrobe staple underwear, I know what I want: something plain, akin to Hanes but more sophisticated, comfortable with breathable fabric, and an affordable price point. Stripe & Stare checks all of these boxes.

When Stripe & Stare gifted me underwear, I immediately liked the basic cut and style, plus I loved that they had a collaboration with floral behemoths LoveShackFancy, but I was not overly hopeful beyond that. Thankfully, I was wrong. So wrong, in fact, that my search for the perfect daily undie has finally, mercifully ended.
The underwear comes in multi-pack sets — something that seems difficult to find as an adult. They are incredibly comfortable, soft, and fitted; I didn't experience any tightness or pinching around the base of my thighs. When I first put a pair of knickers on, I remarked to myself that these were like classic cotton but way better.
After some digging (aka reading the packaging), I discovered that this was also one of the more sustainable wardrobe choices I'd made in a while. Stripe & Stare's products are made from Beechwood trees in Austria, meaning they are biodegradable and sustainably made — a rare feat since only 3 percent of underwear meets that qualification, per the brand.
You can buy an individual pair of knickers, but I recommend the underwear multi-packs and boxes that come in sets of four or eight since they save you from $32 to $64. Although I was gifted a couple of packs, I have already ordered another four-pack and will be buying some for my two sisters as well. I feel an unexpected weight lifted off my shoulders knowing that I now have reliable everyday cotton-like underwear. Get yourself what will definitely be your new favorite knickers at Stripe & Stare.
