Fourth of July activities begin today with fireworks at Bowen Field in Bluefield

Jul. 3—Fourth of July fun kicks off today with a baseball game and fireworks in Bluefield and keeps going Thursday with a car show, music, food trucks and more in Princeton.

The Mercer County Convention & Visitors Bureau has listed plenty of upcoming Fourth of July activities for residents to participate in across Mercer County. In Bluefield, Fourth of July celebrations kick off today at 6:30 p.m. with a Ridge Runners baseball game against Tri-State at Bowen Field in Bluefield. A fireworks show will be held immediately after the game.

On the Fourth of July, a variety of celebrations will get underway in Princeton. Starting at 1 p.m. at the Princeton Senior High School, the city of Princeton is hosting an Independence Day Car Show.

Princeton's Fourth of July festivities continue from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. with concerts, a dunking booth, outdoor games, food trucks, a hot dog eating contest, Jeep show and fireworks at the Chuck Mathena Center, which is located at 2 Stafford Drive.

Music from Second Helping, the original Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band, starts at 5 p.m., organizers said. Fireworks take place after sunset.

Princeton festivities continue Friday, July 5 with a drive-in movie at the Chuck Mathena Center. The movie starts at 8:45 p.m.

On Saturday, there will be a disc golf tournament located at Princeton City Park. The tournament starts at 9 a.m.

On Sunday, there will be a water day with the Princeton Fire Department at Knob Park starting at 1:30 p.m.

More Fourth of July events also are taking place throughout the region.

At Camp Creek State Park, officials will be celebrating the fourth annual July bike parade beginning at 11 a.m. July 4 at the campground office. The hosts recommend arriving at 10:30 a.m.

The town of Bramwell will host its own fireworks show July 4 at the Bramwell Train Depot on Main Street. The show starts at 9 p.m. and continues until the fireworks run out.

A variety of Fourth of July fireworks and festivals have been scheduled for Southwest Virginia as well.

There will be a 4th Fest today in Tazewell, Va. The 4th Fest starts 7 p.m. at Tazewell Middle School with food and family activities. Fireworks are scheduled to start after dusk.

Fireworks are scheduled today at dusk at the Burkes' Garden Community Center.

The Tazewell, Va. Main Street organization will have a modified version of the First Friday celebration and Movies on Main for July 5 on Main Street. The Main Street Merchants will have a "Stars & Stripes Stroll." The stroll will take visitors from business to business. The special First Friday will conclude with a free community movie, "National Treasure," on the Little League field, hosted in partnership with the Tazewell County Public Library.

The town of Grundy, Va. will have an Independence Day Celebration on July 5 at the Grundy Town Center. There will be music from 7 to 9:30 p.m. and fireworks starting at 9:30 p.m. Music will be performed by Renegade Band.
