Fourth of July concert to benefit Wounded Warrior Project

Jun. 25—This Independence Day, area residents can celebrate freedom and help wounded warriors with a benefit concert and fireworks.

"This will be a pasture party-type community event that celebrates Independence Day, while we honor our veterans, raise money for our wounded warriors. Be heroes to them, as they have been to us," said Roland Whitt, event founder.

All proceeds from this event will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.

Whitt said this event will feature live music, food — including Texas BBQ — adult beverages and fireworks.

Gates open at 6:30 p.m. There is a $10 admission fee per vehicle.

Adult barbecue plates are $15 each. Kids' hot dog plates are $8 each. All veterans receive a free meal with military identification.

Artists for the concert include Tanner Sparks, John Castillo and Whitt. Music starts at 7 p.m.

Participants are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets as well as battery-operated fans.

No outside food or drinks are allowed. This is not a BYOB event. Identification will be required to purchase adult beverages.

Whitt also said there will be security at this event.

He said those who choose to bring their children will be responsible for taking care of them.

Sponsorships are still available; there are four levels of sponsorship ranging from $250 to $1,000.

Whitt said he hopes to make this an annual event.
