Fourth of July fireworks: Big Bay Boom, SeaWorld, Legoland and more holding fireworks shows
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — San Diego will soon be lit up by fireworks. Fourth of July is just under a month away and lands on a Thursday this year.
Whether you’re planning to attend a fireworks show or Fourth of July celebration, or if you just want to watch fireworks with the family from the comfort of your home, there are many options this Fourth of July in San Diego County.
Big Bay Boom
San Diego Bay will light up with fireworks when the Port of San Diego puts on its Big Bay Boom fireworks show.
The annual fireworks display will start at 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 4.
The show can be seen from the northern and central parts of San Diego Bay. The most popular areas to watch are at Shelter Island, Spanish Landing Park, Harbor Island, Embarcadero Parks North & South, Seaport Village, Cesar Chavez Park and Coronado Ferry Landing, the event website states.
Attendees are encouraged to arrive early, bring a lawn chair and/or blanket and bring a radio to tune in to 100.7 BIG FM.
For those who want to watch the fireworks show from home, it will be broadcast on FOX 5 San Diego, KTLA 5 Los Angeles and Fox 40 Sacramento from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
A delayed broadcast will be available on Fresno KGPE from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on Bakersfield KGET from 10:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
The Big Bay Boom has taken place every year since 2001, except for in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

SeaWorld 4th of July Celebration
SeaWorld is turning the Fourth of July into a week-long celebration. The park will be hosting its 4th of July Celebration featuring nightly fireworks from Sunday, June 30 to Thursday, July 4. Fireworks on July 4 will begin at 9 p.m.
The fireworks display is free with your SeaWorld admission.
In addition to their Fourth of July Celebration, SeaWorld is putting on nightly fireworks part of their Enchanted Wonders Fireworks Spectacular, which takes place every night from now through August 11.
Other than on the Fourth of July, fireworks take place 10 minutes before the park closes.
Red, White & BOOM 4th of July Celebration at Legoland
Families can ring in the holiday with a Red, White & BOOM! 4th of July Celebration, featuring special treats, lawn activities and DJ dance parties. End the night with a fireworks display that explodes into 3D LEGO bricks with special viewing glasses.
First-ever ‘LEGO World Parade’ debuts at Legoland California
All Red, White, & BOOM! activities are included in the cost of regular park admission.
4th of July Fireworks Viewing Party Aboard USS Midway Museum
The USS Midway Museum is gearing up to hold a 4th of July Fireworks Viewing Party. Doors open at 6 p.m., fireworks start at 9 p.m. The event is sold out.
Fireworks Spectacular at San Diego County Fair
Catch fireworks from San Diego Fair’s Grandstand on Independence Day.
The 2024 Fireworks Spectacular starts at 9 p.m. on July 4. When you purchase tickets to the Grandstand show you get complimentary fair admission for that day, according to the fair. Those planning to attend can start with the fair at 11 a.m. The Grandstand opens at 7 p.m. for the fireworks show.
Chula Vista 4th Fest
The City of Chula Vista is putting on a fireworks show for the community on July 4.
Gates open at 7 p.m., fireworks start at 9 p.m. All ages are welcome to the free Chula Vista 4th Fest at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center.
The City of Chula Vista’s event announcement says parking will be free and there will be food trucks. A custom bilingual soundtrack will be available on Amor 102.9.
Oceanside Fireworks Show
The Oceanside Parks and Recreation Department is planning a fireworks show for Wednesday, July 3, in celebration of the Fourth of July and the 136th anniversary of the City’s incorporation.
Fireworks will begin at 9 p.m. at the SoCal Soccer Complex at El Corazon. The family-friendly event is free and open to the public, and will have food trucks, crafts, lawn games, and live music and entertainment.
While public transportation is encouraged by the city, free parking will be available at the nearby Ocean Ranch Business Park. However the city notes it is a 30-minute walk.
The event announcement reminds residents “personal use of consumer fireworks are illegal in the City of Oceanside.”

Santee Salutes
The City of Santee is putting on a Fourth of July event and fireworks show for the community.
Featuring amusement rides, food vendors, performances by the US Marine Corps Band “PMG” (Popular Music Group), a Patriotic Ceremony, and a live music performance by Whiskey Ridge, the night ends with a fireworks show at 9 p.m.
Those not in attendance can listen to the fireworks soundtrack on SanteeTV from anywhere.

2024 Mira Mesa Fourth of July Celebration
A community event and fireworks show is taking place on Wednesday, July 3 in Mira Mesa.
The 2024 Mira Mesa Fourth of July Celebration will begin with a community picnic from 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Hourglass Field Community Park leading up to the fireworks, which will be put on by Wangenheim Middle School at 9 p.m.
City of Poway Fourth of July Fireworks
A fireworks show complete with games, activities and live music is taking place on July 4 in the City of Poway.
The Poway Fourth of July event begins at 6 p.m. with games, activities, and a DJ spinning the tunes. No registration is required, admission can be paid at the gate.
Children ages 11 and under are free with a paid adult admission. All proceeds benefit Poway High School Music Boosters.
Fireworks will be set off at 9 p.m. A parking map for where to view fireworks is available at poway.org/fireworks-map.
Fourth of July fireworks in El Cajon
The City of El Cajon is holding a free Fourth of July event for the community.
Fireworks will be set off at 9 p.m. at Kennedy Park. The city says there will be free activities like train rides, arts and crafts and family games, along with two live bands.
Fourth of July celebration in Coronado
Coronado has several events happening on the Fourth of July. Beginning the day early with the 51st Crown City Classic 12K (7.4 miles) & 5K and the Kids Half Mile, the Independence Day Parade will take place from 10 a.m. to noon.
The day will end with a fireworks show at 9 p.m. at the Coronado Golf Course with a soundtrack on KYXY Radio 96.5FM.

Vista is holding its 56th annual Independence Day Celebration on July 4.

Lake Murray Music Fest & Fireworks Show
Head out to the Lake Murray Community Park in San Carlos for a music fest from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Fireworks are at 9 p.m. and can be seen from La Mesa to Del Cerro.
