Free clean-up event scheduled in Greenville next month

Jul. 1—The City of Greenville plans to host a free event on July 27 to help residents do a little decluttering.

For the citywide clean-up, residents will have a chance to get rid of some of their larger unwanted items that may be collecting dust and taking up space around their home or garage at Fletcher Warren Civic Center, between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The kinds of items that will be accepted at the clean-up event include construction materials, furniture, household waste, washers and dryers, stoves, cooktops and microwaves.

While computers/electronics and tires have been accepted at some beautification events in Greenville over the years, both are on the list of items the City will not be collecting at this specific event.

In addition to computers/electronics and tires, other items that will not be accepted include air conditioners, car and truck batteries, chemicals, freezers, hazardous waste, paints, pesticides and refrigerators.

Those who want to dispose of unwanted items will need to bring proof of Greenville residency such as a utility bill, bank statement, lease agreement or pay stub.

For those who are unable to take advantage of July's clean-up event, the City has one more scheduled this year for Oct. 5.
