This French Theme Park Just Hired a Very Unlikely Clean-Up Crew, and Hint: They're Not Human

Cleaning up. It's a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it.

In the case of Puy du Fou, a theme park in western France, that "someone" is a team of six trained rooks, members of the crow family, who are now picking up small pieces of paper and cigarette butts in exchange for food.

NPR reports that Puy du Fou, which is popular for its historical shows like chariot races and sword fights, put the birds—Boubou, Bamboo, Bill, Black, Bricole and Baco—through six months of training before they officially reported to work earlier this week.

The park's president, Nicolas de Villiers, told NPR, "The park is very clean. The purpose of the crows ... is to educate the people, to open their minds, to think, 'OK, the birds are able to do something that we are much more able to do than them, so we should do this by ourselves.'"

A great idea for sure, but now we can't stop thinking about their break room gossip.
