My Friend Wears These Unexpected Sneakers With Everything From Dresses to Cargo Pants

Going to fashion school, working in the fashion industry as a designer, and now being a shopping editor has allotted me a close circle of very fashion-forward friends. While I’m pretty innovative in the way that I style pieces, it’s always interesting watching how my friends craft and style unconventional pieces. The first person that comes to mind is my friend Wylie, who no matter if it was a baby tee with baggy cargo pants or a long-sleeve lace-up top and maxi denim skirt, she's wearing her New Balance 608 V5 Cross Trainer. She was rocking the dad shoe trend before it was a trend.
The comfy sneakers come in black, white and pink, or white and baby blue and range from size 5 through 12 with options of wide or narrow for a better fit. They feature a lightweight and supportive rubber outsole, suede and mesh upper that's breathable and hugs around the foot, and has a cushioned insole that offers unreal comfort with every step.

Meghan Markle, Blake Lively, and Margot Robbie have both been seen wearing the easy-to-walk-in shoe brand and with a range of styling. More casually, Markle wore her New Balances with leggings and a long-sleeve top, and Robbie wore hers with a tee and trousers. But similarly to how my friend styles her 608 V5 Cross Trainers, Lively wore her New Balance’s with personality pairing them with a red exaggerated button down with jeans. Showing that while these shoes are comfortable, they also can be dressed up on occasion.
Wylie wears these shoes nearly every day because she works as a patternmaker and is often on her feet for long hours. She says, “other shoes used to weigh [her] feet down” and “wouldn’t support [her] arches,” but these New Balances don’t give her foot fatigue and allow her to comfortably walk up and down the streets of New York effortlessly. The insoles are “plush and thick,” and the rubber outsoles allow her to walk around on uneven surfaces without her foot or ankles absorbing the impact of every step.
She’s made these shoes a part of her brand and her uniform, so you won’t see her without them. Thanks to their simple design and minimal color, she’s been able to style them with everything from maxi dresses to dad jeans. She’s had her current pair for the last five years, and said they’re “easy to clean because you can just toss them in the washing machine.” They’re “super breathable in the summer” so her feet don't sweat, and, now that it’s cold, they’re also “great for keeping the warmth of [her] body heat inside the shoe.” While her pair is worn in, she did say that when she first got them they were “super comfortable fresh out of the box” — no breaking-in needed.
