As a staunch breakfast person, few things excite me as much as a well-constructed biscuit breakfast sandwich. The fluffy biscuit! The creamy eggs! The meat-y sausage! It’s not a bad way to start the day, if you ask me.
One of my absolute favorites is a classic McDonald’s sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit. Oftentimes, I’m less enthusiastic about getting in my car on an empty stomach. I know I’m not alone. My husband feels the same way, which is how we ended up discovering Jimmy Dean’s — remarkably similar — biscuit sandwiches.
He was looking for a weekend breakfast item that was decidedly different from his weekday blueberries and Greek yogurt. We stumbled upon the biscuit sandwiches while browsing Instacart one evening, ordered them immediately, and the rest is, as they say, history.
What’s So Great About Jimmy Dean Sausage Egg & Cheese Biscuit Sandwiches?
TL;DR: These Jimmy Dean sandwiches taste as good as the sausage, egg, and cheese biscuits at McDonald’s.
Jimmy Dean’s biscuit is pleasantly soft, yet sturdy enough to support the fillings. The egg is aptly thick and satisfying, while the warmed cheddar gets just hot enough to melt without burning your mouth. The sausage is the true highlight, though — it is savory, with just a touch of spice. One sandwich may seem small, but it’s very filling (I do not feel hungry again until lunchtime) and, at 12 grams (or 12% daily value), a good source of protein.

Target
$6.99
A box of four is $5.99 (on sale) at Target, which breaks out to $1.50 per sandwich (before tax), and I’ve seen 8-count packs at Walmart for less than $11. These days, just one biscuit sandwich at the golden arches will run you close to $8 — and that’s without cheese. Needless to say, there’s a BIG difference in price.
What’s the Best Way to Make Jimmy Dean Sausage Egg & Cheese Biscuit Sandwiches?
You can microwave the sandwiches from frozen (or refrigerated), and they’re done in less than three minutes — shorter than your typical drive-thru line. We microwave ours from frozen, following the directions on the back of the box and adding about five extra seconds (as the packaging notes, times may vary).
Be advised, the instructions advise wrapping the sandwich in a paper towel before heating. Make sure to wrap it loosely; we’ve had cheese melt and stick to the paper towel when wrapped too tight.
They are great for hectic mornings, and easy to customize with hot sauce, ketchup, or any number of condiments or extra toppings. I know once September hits and we’re back to our fall schedules, my husband and I will be relying on them for more than just weekends.
