This Frozen Cereal Lets You Breathe Like A Dragon
As a kid, the best part about chilly days - besides the possibility of school getting cancelled - was stepping outside and breathing 'smoke' out of your mouth, like the cool kids we all were. At Nitro Puff, a dessert shop in California, you get to do the same thing, but while eating dessert in 70 degree weather.
Opened by Jacob Oh in 2016, Nitro Puff now has five locations throughout the Los Angeles area, including a cart at The Outlets At Orange. The trend of liquid nitrogen-filled cereal balls was popular in South Korea, Oh says, and he noticed it starting to spread to the U.S. when he opened his first shop.
To make the dessert, Oh and his team fill a cup with fruit-flavored frozen cereal balls that taste like a mix between ice cream and and breakfast cereal. The balls are infused with liquid nitrogen and put into an infusion chamber for 15 seconds. Then, the liquid nitrogen is removed from the cup so that the dessert is "easy and fun to consume without causing injuries," Oh explains (similar desserts have burned consumers' hands).
The magical dessert comes with strawberry, mango, chocolate, or vanilla dipping sauce, and wooden sticks to poke 'em with. Find a location to get your dragon on here.
