The Full Moon And Lunar Eclipse In Capricorn Mean Serious Business
The new moon and lunar eclipse in Capricorn are happening on July 16th.
It's expected to force you to get serious about what really makes you happy in life.
The astrological event will affect Capricorn and Cancer the most, followed by Libra and Aries.
Heads up, you’re currently smack dab in the middle of eclipse season—and that's kind of a big deal. Earlier this month, there was a new moon in Cancer that happened along with a total solar eclipse, and now there’s a full moon and lunar eclipse in Capricorn happening on July 16th.
Quick astronomy refresher: A full moon happens when the earth is located in the sky between the sun and the moon. During a full moon, the whole disk is lit up like a big, bright ball of awesome in the sky. There are usually 12 full moons a year (although some years have 13), and each syncs up with a particular zodiac sign.
Known as a Thunder Moon, this one is pretty special, since it’s happening at the same time as a lunar eclipse (which is when the earth’s shadow falls onto the moon, making it look darker). But, don't freak out—it won't be totally lights out. This is a partial lunar eclipse, so only a part of the moon will look darker.
Both the full moon and partial lunar eclipse are happening in Capricorn. That makes this astrological event a little more serious than other full moons, according to Donna Page, a certified astrologer in Atlanta. Here’s what else you can expect from the full moon and lunar eclipse in Capricorn:
What does the full moon and partial lunar eclipse in Capricorn mean for your sign?
In general astrological terms, any kind of eclipse means the ~moon energy~ is going to be stronger than usual. That’s true for solar eclipses, as well as lunar eclipses, like the one that’s happening on the 16th, Page explains.
This full moon is "pretty powerful," forcing you to get serious about what will **actually** bring you happiness in life, Page says. "It has a very serious vibe with it because Saturn, the planet of being responsible and fixing things, has its thumbprint all over this chart,” she explains.
So…get ready to do some serious thinking. Are you cool with where you’re headed in life, or are you moving down a path that doesn’t line up with your core values? If you’re happy with things, then you can mentally high-five yourself and move on. But, if you’re not digging the direction you’re headed in, WTH do you plan to do about it?
Plus, since the sun is in Cancer, which focuses on personal life and emotions, and the moon is in Capricorn, which is all about career, you’ll also do some ~more~ thinking about your work/life balance, Page adds. Is one overshadowing the other? If so, it’s time to make a change ASAP.
Speaking of work/life balance, here's the best job for your zodiac sign:
One more thing: The full moon is going to be big on making you let go of things you think you’re supposed to do that really don’t line up with what you want anymore. Like, now is the time to stop forcing yourself to choke down sprouted whole-grain bread because your mom said it was good for you. (On that note, bring on the bagels!).
The full moon and lunar eclipse will impact every zodiac sign, but Capricorn and Cancer will feel it the most, followed by Libra and Aries, Page says.
How will the full moon and partial lunar eclipse impact the rest of my year?
Those deep thoughts you’re having could lead to some pretty big changes (because duh). Maybe you’ll decide your job is sucking the life out of you, and you need to make a change for your mental wellbeing. Or maybe you’ll kick off a less dramatic (but still obviously important) change, like getting your butt out of bed earlier so you can squeeze in a few more mins at the gym.
The changes you make now could make some serious waves that’ll impact you over the next few weeks, months, and (not to be totally dramatic here, but…) possibly the rest of your life. No pressure, though.
When is the next full moon?
The next full moon is happening on August 15, and it’s in the sign of Aquarius, Page says. That means you might experience some complicated emotions around this time (fun!).
But for now, focus on those deep thoughts. It'll pay off in the long run.
