This is how future Captain Marvel Brie Larson is getting in superhero shape

As Avengers: Infinity War continues to dominate at the box office, fans are eager for the next chapter: Captain Marvel, and Brie Larson has been going hard in the gym for the past nine months to prepare for her eponymous role in the upcoming film. She’s going to be the first woman to solo lead a Marvel action movie, and she has completely transformed her physique for the part. Wonder how she did it? We’ve got answers in this week’s episode of “Off-Season.”

Larson’s superhero strength comes with a support system; she has been working out with celebrity trainer Jason Walsh at his Los Angeles facility, Rise Nation. Larson has been posting on Instagram about her intense workouts with Walsh, and we are so here for it.

Training for Marvel movies is notoriously rigorous, but the Oscar-winning actress has proven she is up to the challenge. Larson revealed that for her weighted hip-thrust workout, she’s able to work with up to 400 pounds — and she makes pushups with two 25-pound chains around her waist look easy. Looks as if her hard work is paying off.

As she noted on Instagram, “9 months of training really does some stuff to your body. Getting stronger is a process I’m committed to showing up for everyday.”

Larson’s training isn’t only at the gym. She also got some tips from real pilots to help “get closer to the core” of her Captain Marvel character. The superhero-in-training posted an Instagram photo of herself — alongside a brigadier general — in a cockpit, wearing full flight gear.

This isn’t the first time Larson has had to get in shape for a movie. She previously trained for her role in Room and gained 15 pounds of muscle for the part that eventually won her an Academy Award. “I was able to lift things that I never felt in my life I would be able to do,” she told People in 2016.

Most importantly, her openness about the process in the last nine months is a good reminder to us all that these kind of badass results don’t just happen overnight. Keep killing it, Brie! And see you soon, Captain Marvel.
