Art is a popular source of inspiration for denim. This fall AG bowed The Art Project, a collection that is designed to transform apparel into wearable art. Denham collaborated with the Victoria and Albert Museum on collection that explores an “East meets West” aesthetic last year. Circular denim brand Mud Jeans teamed with the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam in 2022 for a capsule collection of recycled denim inspired by the famed artist.
G-Star’s capsule collection is in partnership with the Rembrandt House Museum in Amsterdam. For the campaign, G-Star chose different spaces within the historic museum, where Rembrandt himself once worked and lived.
The imagery was captured by renowned Dutch fine art photographer, Philippe Vogelenzang.
As part of their partnership, the Rembrandt House Museum will host an exhibition of several highlights of Rembrandt’s printmaking and showcase G-Star’s research for the denim collection. The Etched Denim exhibition will be open to public Nov. 2, 2024 to Jan. 5, 2025.
