Bosses at Game of Thrones are reportedly so concerned about the climax to its final season being leaked in advance of broadcast that they're to shoot a host of different endings, while even the show's cast may be left in the dark about which one is legit.

Speaking to The Morning Call, the head of HBO, Casey Bloys, revealed the intentions of those working behind the scenes on the final season, which may or may not debut next year.

"I know in Game of Thrones, the ending, they're going to shoot multiple versions so that nobody really know what happens," Bloys said. "You have to do that on a long show. Because when you're shooting something, people know. So they're going to shoot multiple versions so that there's no real definitive answer until the end."

Bloys wouldn't be pressed on what the finale will actually look like, but did reference the fact that they are notoriously difficult to get right, or at least right enough to please audiences.

"Finales are tough," he said. "If you think about Six Feet Under, well, that was a pretty good finale. But if you think about Seinfeld, if you think about The Sopranos, if you think about Breaking Bad... Everybody has an opinion about how a show should end."

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly in June, series co-creator David Benioff spoke about the difficulties in keeping future storylines under wraps.

"Even the CIA and NSA are unable to prevent leaks," he said. "It's incredibly hard for anybody with a show of this size, with so many people working on it, and all you need is one person — and it's not necessarily a bad egg among the crew members. The leak can be a relative or roommate to somebody with access to the scripts who decides to try and get a few Facebook friends.

It becomes harder every year as the show and the viewership expands. Thankfully there are so many false rumours — which makes us happy, because it becomes harder for people to know what's real and what's not real. We will do everything we can to keep [leaks] from happening."
