‘Game of Thrones’ Just Released a New Season 8 Promo, and It’s a Bird! It’s a Plane! It’s Jon Snow Officially Riding a Dragon?

Updated

With just two weeks until Game of Thrones season eight premieres, we’re hard-pressed to find anything worth caring more about (sorry, friend whose wedding is this weekend).

And HBO just gave us even more reason to freak out when they released a few brand-new clips (inter-spliced with some we’ve already seen from the full-length trailer that was released last month) during last night’s back-to-back premieres of Veep and Barry.

So, what do we know from the new scenes, which include Beric Dondarrian wielding his flaming sword alongside Tormund, Arya and Jon meeting underneath the Weirwood tree, Dany looking deeply into the fire at Winterfell, and Varys, Tyrion and Ser Davos looking at the sky with shock and awe?

Let’s break it all down.

Beric and his flame-sword suggest he and Tormund (we’re still celebrating he’s not dead, y’all) make it back from Eastwatch-by-the-Sea in time to warn everyone that the White Walker army has overcome the Wall, while the Hound wincing in the next scene suggests Sandor Clegane will have to come (burnt) face-to-face with his fear of fire. We also see Arya and Jon reunited at Winterfell under the Weirwood tree, the first time the two have been together since season one.

In another new clip, we see Daenerys’s back to the camera (new braid, who dis?) as she looks into a fireplace (presumably at Winterfell). Jon glances toward her, and we’re left wondering whether they’ve both just found out that he's her nephew…

Finally (and most excitingly for Team Jon-riding-a-dragon), we see Varys, Tyrion and Ser Davos with mouths agape as they stare up (most likely at one of Dany’s dragons flying overhead). But these three have been around Dany long enough to not be shocked by her scale babies, so there must be another explanation for their complete surprise. Is it because Jon Snow is riding this dragon instead?! All signs point to “hell yeah.”

We can guess it’s probably not because of Dany’s new hairstyle (although, we can’t be sure ’til April 14).
