Game of Thrones Spinoff Announced
There’s a new Game of Thrones spinoff series coming, and it’s taking you farther back in the timeline than ever.
Set 100 years before House of the Dragon, which itself takes place almost 200 years before Game of Thrones, HBO’s next entry in the fantasy universe fleshes out the Aegon’s Conquest storyline.
In the original novels by George R.R. Martin, Aegon’s Conquest follows the Targaryen family in their rise to power. It’s named after Aegon Targaryen who, with the help of his dragons, conquered the continent of Westeros.
According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, “HBO is partnering with Mattson Tomlin, an in-demand scribe who did uncredited work on Matt Reeve’s The Batman and is co-writing its upcoming sequel The Batman Part II.”
Game of Thrones’ eighth and final season concluded with a muted reception in 2019. Its first spinoff, 2022’s House of the Dragon, righted the ship, with the show’s next season coming Summer 2024.
Before Aegon’s Conquest comes another Game of Thrones spinoff. It’s called A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, and is set to begin production later this year.
In other Thrones news, the Supergirl movie has cast House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock.
