This ‘Game of Thrones’ Theory That the Night King Is Actually a Targaryen Is Horrifying
For the final season of Game of Thrones, fans will finally get to see who wins and ends up on the Iron Throne.
According to some fan theories, the Night King might actually be a Targaryen and have a legitimate claim to the throne.
Brace yourselves, spoilers are coming.
Well, here’s an absolutely horrifying fan theory that will make you want to shout a big “NOPE” from the top of the Wall. Now that the war between the living and the dead is about to pop off once again and the battle for the Iron Throne is looming in the background, Game of Thrones fans are considering all possibilities for who could end up winning it all. Shockingly, the latest theory is that the Night King is actually a Targaryen. Lemme just speak on behalf of the whole audience for a second and say please, dear god, NO.
But if you’re intrigued, here’s the gist: Supposedly, only Targaryens, like Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen, are able to ride dragons. In season 7, the Night King killed Viserion, turned him into a wight, and rode him around while tearing down the Wall with some ice-fire. According to the theory, this is a dead giveaway that the Night King is a distant relative of Jon and Dany. Plus, the Night King and the White Walkers love making those creepy spiral symbols that just so happen to look like the Targaryen dragon sigil.
You may be wondering how this is possible when Bran Stark saw what the Night King looked like when he was a regular human-and he didn’t have that Targaryen silver hair people are always going on about. Well, this theory points out that he was alive way before the houses even came to be and could be the OG Targaryen. Also, Jon doesn’t even have silver hair and is still a Targaryen, so....
Basically, if the Night King is a Targaryen, he could have some sort of weird claim to the throne despite being a walking corpse. Now that is a world nobody wants to live in or watch unfold on TV. HBO, you really don’t need to do this!!
