Garlic Festival to spice up Los Banos this August

MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The California Garlic Festival is coming to Los Banos this August for three days of pungent fun.

An array of garlic dishes will be available at the festival’s Cali Garlic Alley, including:

  • Garlic French Fries

  • Garlic Maple Brown Sugar Ice Cream

  • Garlic Mushroom and Onion Bread Bowl

  • Garlic Pesto Pasta

Non-garlic dishes will be available for those with the garl-ick.

In addition to garlic-flavored treats, the festival will feature two monster truck shows and a midway carnival. The Midway of Fun carnival will be open for the duration of the festival while the monster truck shows start at 5:30 p.m. on August 30 and August 31.

Event organizers say live music, plenty of seating, and cooling misters will also be available for crowds to enjoy.

The festival will be hosted at the Merced County Spring Fairgrounds at 403 F St. in Los Banos. Gates will be open August 30 through September 1 from noon until 10 p.m. daily; buildings and Cali Garlic Alley will close at 7 p.m.

Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for minors five years and older. Seniors, military, and children under five get in free.

The California Garlic Festival requires attendees to use clear bags no larger than 12″ x 6″ x 12″. Purses larger than 4.5″ x 6.5″, backpacks, and any other bags other than diaper bags and medical bags are prohibited.
