You don’t have to go to the salon to get a good gel manicure. ManiMe makes custom-fit gel nail stickers you can apply at home. They last for a few weeks — and look incredible. Not to mention, the brand offers its stick-ons in several fun designs.
This month, ManiMe is honoring Black History Month with a collection of designs created by famed Black nail artists Mimi D, Spifster Sutton, Kia Stewart and Canishea J. Sams.
“Black culture has had an undeniable impact on the beauty world both past and present — especially when it comes to nails,” a blog post on ManiMe’s site reads. “If 2020 taught us anything, it’s that the beauty industry needs to step up. June of 2020 shed light on racial injustices, leading brands including ManiMe to look inward and make pledges to improve. For ManiMe, that meant starting with examining the diversity of their designer partnerships and committing to doing better.”
For every BHM mani sold, a portion of the revenue will be donated to four organizations that focus on supporting the Black community. Each nail artist chose a charitable organization themselves, which include: Literacy Inc., America’s Big Sisters Foundation, Acta Non Verba: Youth Urban Farm Project and the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Hampton Alumnae Chapter Delta GEMS Project.
The gel stick-ons, like all ManiMe stickers, are printed for your unique nail shape, which helps them last longer. (If the stickers overlap and touch your skin, the oils in your skin will loosen them up and they won’t last.)
Getting your ManiMe manicure is easy. Simply use your phone to take five photos of your hands from different angles (it provides step-by-step instructions). Then, choose your nail design. Your high-tech mani will arrive within 4–7 business days. Once you have it, stick on your gels and cover them with a top coat for extra shine and hold.
Needless to say, custom-fit gel stick-ons sound expensive, but they actually cost less than the salon. ManiMe gels cost between $15 to $25, depending on the design. Every manicure in the BHM collection costs $25, but if you get more than one, the brand offers free shipping on orders over $30.
