Gender Reveal at Ed Sheeran Concert Goes Completely Wrong
Remember a few days ago when we shared a clip of the first gender reveal at an Ed Sheeran concert? Well, it looks like there was a slight error, and the moment wasn't as "perfect" as the soon-to-be parents had once expressed.
In a surprising twist, the couple said that while Sheeran, 32, revealed they would soon be parents to a baby girl, that's not the case.
On Monday, Erica Garcia Gomez and Eloy Gomez told local reporters that while the "Eyes Closed" singer did make their dreams a reality after pausing his performance of "Perfect," which also happened to be their wedding song, to reveal the sex of their child, what he told them is apparently not what they're having.
"We had a family friend look at the chart so everybody was surprised, and they misread it and they read my gender, not the baby’s gender," Garcia Gomez shared.
Despite the mix-up, the couple explained they have no hard feelings–and in defense of the singer, he did say this was his first time doing this.
"We just want to say thank you, Ed Sheeran, for doing this for us and making it a memorable night and later on we will laugh about it for saying it was a girl, but it really is a boy," Garcia Gomez added, chuckling.
As for potential baby names, well, the soon-to-be parents already have one picked out. And no, it's not inspired by the singer-songwriter.
The couple said they’ve always planned to use the name Ramon after Garcia Gomez’s dad. But they did note that if Sheeran wanted to redo the gender reveal, they’d be happy to attend another concert on his tour.
