How 'General Hospital' Plans to Say Farewell to Late Star Jacklyn Zeman
Jacklyn Zeman
After actress Jacklyn Zeman's death in May after a short battle with cancer, General Hospital, the soap opera that was home to Zeman's character Bobbie Spencer for over 40 years, is paying tribute to the star and giving her a true send-off.
The show will officially say goodbye to Zeman and Bobbie with two special episodes airing on Jan. 10 and 11, as previewed by People. The two General Hospital episodes will feature many important figures for both Bobbie and Zeman in an emotional story.
This includes characters who had special relationships with Bobbie, like her former love interest Scott (Kin Shriner), her daughter Carly (Laura Wright), her adopted son Lucas (Ryan Carnes), and Maxie (Kirsten Storms), to name a few, as well as Anna and Lucy, whose actresses, Finola Hughes and Lynn Herring, were close friends with Zeman in real life.
According to People, the two episodes will have lots of surprises and twists, with a memorial for Bobbie that gets interrupted by an unexpected guest, leading Carly and Bobbie's best friend Felicia (Kristina Wagner) on a trip to Amsterdam.
Fans can likely expect many emotions in the two episodes coming in the new year. Wright called the experience on set "bittersweet," but noted, "It was like we as a cast got to really say goodbye.”
After Zeman's passing earlier this year, the General Hospital cast reportedly honored the star with a private gathering, as actor Tristan Rogers shared on X on July 30, "Just left Jackie Z’s celebration of life. What a marvelous 'good bye'. This was a tremendous expression of the effect she’d had on people’s lives. I will truly miss her presence."
Shriner also marked the event on social media, posting a photo of the memorial pamphlet shared at the celebration of life and writing, "Jackie’s celebration of life I was happy to be a part of it today in Malibu! I will see her again !"
Zeman had her final episode of General Hospital not long before her passing, on April 27, with an episode centered around the wedding of her grandson Michael (Chad Duell).
